Feldspar is the most important rock-forming mineral for surface rocks. Feldspar is a general call of feldspar minerals, which is a common class of aluminosilicate rock-forming minerals containing calcium, sodium and potassium. The analysis of trace elements in feldspar is of great significance for understanding the genesis, mineral composition and geological processes of feldspar.
Microwave digestion system is widely used in the digestion of geological samples, compared with traditional digestion methods, it is more energy-saving and time-saving, of complete digestion and high recovery rate.
Experimental reagents and samples
Sample: 0.5011 g feldspar
Reagents: 9mL NITRIC ACID AR, 3mL Hydrofluoric Acid AR;
Experiment Procedures
●Weigh 0.5011g of feldspar sample (accurate to 0.1mg), place it in inner vessel, then add 3mL of hydrofluoric acid and 9mL of nitric acid to it, and then put the digestion inner vessel into the outer vessel, and wait for 10min.
●Loaded samples into the microwave digestion instrument for digestion according to the following methods;
●After the digestion and cooling completed, move microwave digestion vessels to fume hood, Proceed to the next step when vessels cooled to room temperature.
●Slowly unscrew the outer vessel, release pressure for several times, open the lid and place it on the heating blocks. Set temperature to 180 °C until it is almost dry, and then take out and open the inner vessel;
●Observe the sample status, and go for detection and analysis;

Experiment Conclusions
Visual intuitive: clear and transparent, no sediments, no suspended solids which meets digestion requirements.
Microwave digestion is an efficient, rapid, and accurate method for the analysis of trace elements in feldspar. Accurate analytical results can be obtained by choosing right digestion reagent and temperature, and controlling experimental conditions. Before analysis, it is also necessary to pay attention to the preparation and pre-treatment of the sample, as well as the selection of appropriate analytical methods for determination. Microwave digestion provides important technical support for research in the fields of mineralogy and geology.
